A lip flip is when botox is injected into the orbicularis oris muscle around the upper lip

The injections target the muscle that encircles the mouth, relaxing it so the upper lip subtly rolls outward and upward

What could be the aesthetic benefits of this?

This would best be applicable for those who have a thinner upper lip pretty much , now this sounds quite insignificant but thickening the upper lip can

  • Improve lip proportions
  • Make a more compact FWHR
  • More compact midface
  • Shorten the philtrum
  • Increase chin to philtrum ratio

We also know fuller lips to be a more aesthetic trait in general

'Patients with thinner lips showed a significant improvement in the attractiveness of the lips after the lip filling. Patients with thicker lips at pretreatment showed a worsening lip attractiveness score after the filling procedure. However, thicker lips had significantly higher attractiveness scores before and after lip filling than thinner lips.'

The common injection sites are

  • Peaks of cupids bow
  • Midway along each side of the upper lip.
  • At the vermillion border just above the commissures

I recommend the injection sites from the image above

This would be the points 3 and 5 on the diagram and this should be done on both sides of the mouth

I would recommend using 4 - 6 units of botox and spreading these uniformly across all injection sites

So if using 4 , 1 unit at each site this is because the orbicularis oris muscle functions symmetrically around the mouth

Equal dosing helps ensure the upper lip rolls outward evenly, avoiding asymmetry.

Combining this with the DAO botox can upturn mouth corners as well as add some volume.

This will look much more natural and subtle than lip filler not to mention you don't have to deal with all the annoying complications filler poses especially in the lip
