the post of getting a palate expander and a herbst appliance was a larp by me ( I didn’t actually get one).

So emailed my ortho about a herbst appliance and a palate expander and he said we’ll see on the next appointment.

The next appointment came and he said that I couldn’t get palate expansion because for one, my lower palate or the thing under my tounge was too narrow and getting palatal expansion wouldn’t work because they wouldn’t fit post treatment .

Second he said the herbst appliance wouldn’t work because it’s for severe overbites, and that rubber bands could work for now but he’ll see later on.

He showed a X-ray of me showing how my palate still allows for nose breathing, and I don’t have a very severe overbites required for a herbst appliance which I thought. ( not sure if I was coping with him.)

What could I do to palate expand and will rubber bands work for my overbite? Should I just get surgery ?

a surgeon will not perform unless there is a necessity, thats how surgery works, especially heavily invasive ones
