This will be a short guide about the different forms and types of moisturizers there are

Read Before

Types
- So, there are many different types of moisturizers and by types, I mean the categories and I will introduce and explain each one

Forms- I will discuss the 3 most common forms

Types

There are three main different types of moisturizers

Occlusives-
This type tends to trap in moisture and stops (TEWL) which is basically just water loss from the skin and this causes dryness, itchiness, aging, etc. these are heavier than most so be careful when using, these are good for dry skin

Humectants- This type brings in moisture from the air and are the only ones that hydrate the skin cells these are also best when the weather is humid or else you skin can become dry, these are good for oily skin

Emollients- This type consist of fatty substances and mineral oils that smoothens the skin in between cracks in the skin and they are usually thick, these are good for dry/itchy skin

Forms

Now I will discuss the forms

Gel-
These types of moisturizers are best for oily skin because they are the most light-weight form they also don't clog pores, but this doesn't mean you should put a ton of it on. They also don't take long to dry so if you need to add on more products after this is pretty convenient

Lotion- Think of this as the middle option this form is heavier than gel but lighter than cream this is due to the fatty acids and emollients it's pretty hydrating and doesn't leave your skin too oily, this one is pretty good for people with rosacea because it is heavier but if you have oily skin just stay away from this

Creams- This form is the thickest form, think of shea butter, because they have more oil or fat-based formulas and is the best for very dry skin or in winter like climates. This one increase comfort and makes your skin the smoothest

I hope this helped you bhais with your selection in moisturizers๐Ÿ˜
