I’ve read many anecdotal comments from women (particularly black women) with 4C/Afro hair who’ve taken MSM for the span of weeks-months and have noticed changes in hair shape/texture/pattern, typically curls loosening (going from 4A to 3C).

but its actually due to enhanced keratin formation and MSM is rich in sulfur, which is absorbed for keratin synthesis. 4C is rlly dry, increased sulfur reduces it and it becomes hydrated, showing a looser pattern

i was actually gonna look into topical hdac inhibitors so that natural androgens would be able to promote hair curling since i do have the genes for it
