One of the big historical semi scientific sources to back this theory:

The Mongolian empire under Genghis Khan.
Estimated stature for the two adults was 158.9 cm for the male, 149.2 cm for the female (~5'2" and 4'8", respectively).
Ancient Mongol warriors were described by Chinese sources as being stocky, large, and tall for their time.
Historical estimates put warriors from that era at around 170cm (5’7″), which was significantly above average for the medieval period.

The Mongolian warriors under Genghis Khan primarily ate a diet based on meat and dairy, due to their nomadic lifestyle and reliance on livestock. They consumed mutton, lamb, and horse meat, with preference for the latter when available. Dairy products, particularly mare's milk (khal or kumis), were also a staple, often processed into various forms like cheese and fermented milk. They supplemented this with foraged or hunted wild game, fruits, vegetables, and herbs when available.
